About Panther

Panther is the all-in-one platform to employ and pay global teams. We take care of all the heavy lifting involved in international hiring, payroll, benefits, and compliance, so companies can employ incredible people from around the world, and let their employees work from anywhere — without any of the red tape.

Some of Silicon Valley’s sharpest minds are funding us to be the bedrock of global, distributed teams. We’re funded by Tribe Capital, Addition Capital, Eric Ries, Soma Capital, and founders and executives from Stripe, InVision, SpaceX, Plaid, Drift, Fast, and more.

Panther is seeking a customer-obsessed, design-oriented product manager to abstract away the complexities of hiring across borders and lead our borderless payroll products.

In this role, you'll deliver impact by

  • Articulating what the winning borderless payroll product looks like: harness insights from customers, stakeholders, and data to prioritize and build a product that will have the most impact on the business.
  • Rallying the team to build it: Ship high-quality product on time and free of surprises.
  • Synchronizing the people: Align all stakeholders around one vision, strategy, goal, roadmap, and timeline to avoid wasted time and effort.
  • Increasing velocity: It’s not just about building things faster, it’s about decreasing the cycle time of learning and reducing the cost of being wrong. With the right focus, training, and support, teams can accomplish incredible things in short periods of time — like the moon landing (134 days) or the production of COVID vaccines (300 days).

About you

  • You are customer-centricobsessed about the customer and their problems. You are empathetic toward the user experience, know how to talk to customers, understand pain points, and think creatively about the job to be done.
  • You are a structured thinking, and can leverage frameworks for everything. While you might be pulled in many different directions across Panther, you are able to clearly define goals and prioritize projects against those. You organize everything and never drop the ball.
  • You have a bias towards shipping products that move metrics. Actions are stronger than words. Ideas are cheap — execution is what matters. You have high agency and never make excuses. You are able to break down problems into small pieces and make progress.
  • You are design-oriented and sweat every detail and knows what feels right. As you're ultimately accountable for the quality of the product, you need to know every detail, make the call on designs, and know how to troubleshoot when things go wrong. Roll up your sleeves.

Good to have

  • Technicalcan earn the respect of engineers and make decisions. You don't need a CS degree, but if you can understand core concepts like APIs, FE/BE, and data structures, that's a huge plus.
  • Analytical: can use data to make decisions and measure impacts. You don't mind getting your hands dirty writing SQL and looking at logs. Most importantly, you can communicate ideas and impact with data.
  • Collaborative: can build bridges between teams. While you work across Panther to transform ideas into reality, the ability to know how to work with people of all backgrounds, earn their trust, and empower them to do their best work is a huge plus.
  • Strategiccan influence company-level strategy. PMs are business leaders. The product you build must create business value, so you should understand the market dynamics and how to prioritize. Formulate a compelling vision for the product.
  • Intellectually honest: can approach decision-making as rationally as possible. You are not afraid to show vulnerability or admin when you are wrong or don't know something.

Bonus

  • A superpower: you have a spike in an adjacent area (eng, design, data, strategy, marketing, growth, etc). and bring something new that makes you dangerous.
